TRAINING
Background
In addition to the training resources we develop and implement at the community-level when setting up Micro Insurance Units, the MIA also provides professional training to external organisations on the nature and workings of microinsurance and re-insurance. Our trainees include grassroots organizations, MFIs, development NGOs, international organisations and government officials.
Our Capacities
Our research staff and qualified training specialists combine their grassroots level experience with cutting-edge resources on the field to structure superior training programs.
Our Approach
Capacity building within the microinsurance sector is of key importance to the MIA and we develop tailored training programs that build on the existing strengths of the participants. We believe in continuous learning, and the training sessions are mutually beneficial in this respect, as we also learn from the participants.
Action
Since 2007, the MIA has run successfully every year a Reinsurance School for Microinsurance schemes. It is a the only training event globally to explain the technical and practical aspects of how microinsurance schemes can be linked to re-insurance to strengthen their sustainability in the long term and cover high-cost risks by linking community structures to private re-insurance providers.
